What a fucked up democratic system(s) where such an overwhelming public support doesn’t get shit done immediately.
Well, as it turns out, it’s “not the worst”, but that is no consolation.
That’s why they made sure to depict three - so everyone knows more can join at any time.
With two lips already on its tailpipes.
Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zipto Europe@feddit.org•The EU is testing a prototype age verification appEnglish6·2 days agoOk, on one hand we finally get a db of all the vampires & other such immortals, but fuck this anti-privacy shit.
The article doesn’t mention how it works, if the app is “offline” (more akin to mfa), just that it doesn’t forward your data to sites.
However:
It’s positioned as a temporary solution that will be superseded by the EU Digital Identity Wallet that’s expected to launch in 2026, which aims to provide a way for “European citizens, residents and businesses to prove who they are when accessing digital services” and a place to “safely store, share and sign important digital documents.”
Afaik the digital wallet’s goal is still to have online anonymity for stuff like third parties.
But why are we doing this app if it will get so little use (maybe they’ll refuse same APIs later with the wallet?)?

Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zipto Framework Laptop Community@lemmy.ml•The Framework 16 laptop detects when it's booted partially assembled.English6·3 days agoSo cool.
I wound verbally diss it for even thinking of trying to help me in this trivial matter tho. Like, why do you think you are so smart, you’re not even fully assembled (and why does it need a keyboard even?).
Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zipto Technology@lemmy.world•Feds in Catalonia, Spain think everyone using a Google Pixel must be a drug dealerEnglish121·3 days agoLol, yes, posted at late American time, mentioning “feds” in EU, for a split second I thought we had a major international incident because some stupid badged individuals powertripped to Spain ‘to bust a crim’nl’.
I’m glad they didn’t, tho it would be at last something to read about.
Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zipto Europe@feddit.org•Most people in France, Germany, Italy and Spain would support UK rejoining EU, poll findsEnglish3·4 days agoSure, but a lot of EMU members never met the criteria (if you mean Maastricht), so it’s always a per-country decision.
Anyway, UK opted out at the beginning iirc (bcs politicians didn’t want to lose power), so I’m just saying we don’t let them have that luxury again (that € isn’t negotiable).
Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zipto Europe@feddit.org•Most people in France, Germany, Italy and Spain would support UK rejoining EU, poll findsEnglish3·4 days agoWe could make EMU membership a condition for their EU membership … if that isn’t too risky for € at this point.
We are so old even the brand new “now” is a decade ago.
Human rights were made for megacorp’s robots anyway.
So “don’t talk to strangers” or “don’t give your credit card info to strangers” never really reached the audience, did it?
(They mean the stool.)
Noo, don’t use VLC like that!!
(Fork it first)
Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zipto Europe@feddit.org•European airlines go ballistic over French air traffic controller strikeEnglish1·9 days agoYes, I know, in my county too.
Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zipto Europe@feddit.org•European airlines go ballistic over French air traffic controller strikeEnglish2·9 days agoI absolutely want to know where I shop & who I vote for with my wallet (make profit for).
If that company is shitty to workers I’ll def try to avoid it.
Worker rights endeavours arent something to hide & dilute.
And yes, the employer needs to take into account customer view too (which they do).
Evil_Shrubbery@lemmy.zipto Europe@feddit.org•European airlines go ballistic over French air traffic controller strikeEnglish1·9 days agoYes, but usually they do it by other means as to not driving the bus (or they don’t drive the buses only for a limited time within the strike).
But countries differ a lot in regards what is basic infrastructure.
(Lol, typo, I meant doctors there, fixed.)
That is the corporate-sponsored talking point.
No companies can survive without folk & all of them would move out if they get the chance.
