I switched away from NameCheap to a Canadian domain registrar after swearing off American software where possible. They’ve been great. It’s a smaller company so I’ve gotten really quick responses on tickets I’ve put in

It is NOT portable (uses 386 task switching etc), and it probably never will support anything other than AT-harddisks, as that’s all I have :-( - Linux Torvalds (1991)
I’ve never heard of this “Linux” thing but it sounds like it doesn’t support any of them 😤
That actually makes it more confusing. Unless you’re on a rolling release distro , each major version will have a different repository of software - newer Linux Distro releases having newer programs.
An example that’s more visible from the standard user POV would be an Ubuntu user seeing GNOME being updated up a major feature release between Ubuntu versions. Without updating to the new version of Ubuntu, they’d only see maintenance patches and minor feature additions rather than anything gamechanging

AppImages are great! It reminds me a lot of how software is packaged on MacOS and I think it hits that perfect trifecta of powerful, simple, and easy to use

It also makes me think of Operation Paperclip, like the one where the USA hired a tonne of Nazi scientists after WW2

Sorry I can’t read your README.md since its lacking any emojis. I’m sure its a nice project but I can’t tell if its blazing fast or not

There actually are a number of derived languages/dialects of English like Jamaican Patois or other English-based creole languages

God fucking damn it, I’ve been a massive Zed advocate and this is extremely saddening. I went as far as convincing my teammates to use it over VSCode and have had a personal subscription to their AI service, partly just to support them
Why can’t we have a single nice thing? I’ll continue to use it after opting out but I’ll be back to the same feeling of reluctance I had when I used Code.
Hopefully we’ll see a fork of the project

What are you gaining from being so insufferable lol

In terms of tech, it’s because what data you think they have on you is only a tiny fraction of what they actually have. I’m a backend developer who’s worked on numerous web services and you’d be blown away by the amount of data companies collect. Think: full scanable replays of your browser session when visiting websites. At my previous job I could see literally every bit of identifiable data available for each user and could replay their browsing as an interactive video.
It’s a massive invasion of privacy

I used TWMs for a long time but I eventually switched back to stacking WMs. Its sort of hard to go back but when I was using TWMs, I’d spend more time tweaking things than anything else

Most recently, xAI has come under fire after Grok began generating nonconsensual sexual images of real people in response to X user prompts.
That’s an understatement…
I’m very much critical of those topics, but they’re a bit beyond the scope of my initial comment. Just to make it clear, I’m not a centrist nor a Liberal voter. My original point is that the average Canadian LPC voter is not voting out of malice for others but out of a desire for stability (especially now in a time where things are very unstable). For example, a Liberal would generally want existing social support systems like our socialised healthcare to continue being funded at the levels that meet people’s needs but are generally anxious at the idea of funding new similar programs like pharmacare.
Most of these voters also have zero real insight or historical context on geopolitical topics such as neocolinialism and I can say confidently that they’re not thinking about it when voting.
I think it’s all ignorant, misguided and lacks vision but I don’t consider it something that’s worthy of being labeled “bad”.
Sorry, what are you referring to exactly? If it’s the treatment of indigenous peoples in Canada or historical collaboration with the US’ imperialistic wars then I’d agree with you but I know the average Liberal voter isn’t thinking about either of those things. While it’s bad that it’s not on their mind, I wouldn’t call them bad people for it as I would do with enthusiastic supporters of Pierre Poilievre’s CPC
Centrists in Canada are just Liberals and while I disagree with some of their policies, they’re not bad, just status quo. Centrists in the US are undoubtedly bad though because what the hell?
not using fish?

Based on the other comments here I’d suggest black electrical tape over the eyes first
