Hi, I’m lana a non-binary person cursed with being french. I like to produce garbage code, cooking and gardening. My body is holding together with tape and denial and I’m all out of tape.

Linux@programming.dev•Claude Code Found a Linux Vulnerability Hidden for 23 YearsEnglish
39·6 months agoGiven Nicholas Carlini work at anthropic I would wait for another person to confirm this.
The research method is just pointing file by file and asking an LLM if any vulnerability exist and reminds me of the person who bugged ffmpeg devs with vulnerabilities on niche non enabled codec decryption.

Europe@feddit.org•The French parliament introduced a motion to condemn Russia's war against Ukraine. Almost everyone voted yes. 2 political parties refused to vote.English
42·7 months agoThe official classification for LFI is left not far left. ( See franceinfo for exemple https://www.franceinfo.fr/elections/resultats/ where “extreme gauche” is not including LFI ) Their program is not far left and that’s what matter when observing a party that’s know to stick to it’s program before everything else.
The conseil d’etat statued as much in 2024 ( https://environnementsantepolitique.fr/2024/06/21/pour-le-conseil-detat-la-france-insoumise-nest-pas-un-parti-dextreme-gauche/ ) and that was only put into question by the Interior minister this year ( something he have no right doing but our current government wipe their asses with the constitution daily ).
Putting LFI on the same ground as RN is dangerous, one is a party made by facist and nazi that as put a new coat of paint but didn’t change and the other is a left party at best that is lead by idiots that have weird sympaties for authoritharian regimes.

354·7 months agoI’ve a lot of gripes with LFI (notably on this point) but calling them hardcore leftist is just wrong.
Actual far left parties are NPA or LO in France.
Saying LFI is far left is like saying the german SDP or Joe Biden (US) are far left. They are left-center/left at best, their program is no more radical than Mitterant.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What's the laziest way to create a website that looks really nice and is maintainable?English
608·8 months agoI would recommend learning basic HTML CSS and making a website without external tools. This way the maintenance cost is 0 as your website will likely work forever.
Write all your HTML first then your CSS, it will be easier this way. Use vanilla JS if you need to but avoid external libraries , same for php.

Europe@feddit.org•The worst politicians in FranceEnglish
91·10 months agoI would rank Marine LePen higher. She is the heir to a political party that was created by litteral nazis ( including her father that keep making antisemitic statement ).
Hope Agnès Pannier-Runacher make it on the list as she is the most partial president the assembly ever saw.
Sophia Chikirou is also a fan of Russia imperialism if I remember right.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Would you trust an open source software maintained by a developer who you disagree with politically (or otherwise don't like the developer)?English
8·1 year agoMost of the time : Yes
But it depends on a lot of things :
Is there any viable alternatives ? What’s the nature of the disagreement ? Is there a possibility of a fork emerging ? Etc…
I hate google but I can’t replace Android studio at work or ask my employer to stop releasing updates on google play. If the disagreement is about project governance, I would support forking, see CoMaps or Forgejo. I will avoid projects for a variety of reason, two good examples are Manjaro and Hyperland, I avoid the former because of their collaboration politics and the later because they are plain bigots.
Politics can encompass a lot of thing and open source is a very political subject.
Side note : in my opinion the pinephone was always a developer platform and could have succeeded with it’s low specs. It failed because of pine64 lack of collaboration with the community that were building the software.
I recommend this blog post to get a small piece of the picture : https://blog.brixit.nl/why-i-left-pine64/

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Any FLOSS alternative's to Ground News?English
575·1 year agoHi, I want to warn you about services claiming to sell “unbiased” advice : Ground news is biased, their alignment of left and right is subjective as all politics is.
I will frame it another way. You cannot automate subtitles or caption. And I always find reviewing automated output is harder than doing it yourself.
As someone who use a screen reader daily, absolutly the fuck not.
LLMs will invent things out of tin air and ruin any comprehesion. It waste my time rather than help me.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is an issue/topic you believe isn’t getting enough attention or coverage?English
62·1 year agoThing aren’t that much different now, WHO and other org are still trying ( and sadly failling ) to get stuff done to prepare for the next pandemic ( Look at the US for example ). Not everyone can get treated, If someone vulnerable like an elderly person or someone like me catches the new covid variant there is little to no hope of recovery. Even if you perfecly recover covid can leave damaged lung and nerves. And even if treament can be done without consequences, medicine as always warned to prevent rather than treat.
I don’t ask for much, put a mask when going in crowded area and vaccinate at least once every six month.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is an issue/topic you believe isn’t getting enough attention or coverage?English
162·1 year agoHow covid didn’t really disapear and airbornes diseases are still there.
I have a respiratory disease and I feel alone wearing my mask in public transist or struggling to remind people around me to vaccinate ( wich seems to fall on deaf ears ).

Pen and paper.
Most dev I know underestimate the power of scribling what pass through their head when thinking about a problem.
Also I don’t know if it count but learn regex, it’s the best way to parse text ever made.
