5·2 days agoIt’s too late. You already spent 20+ years training people to use the shittiest version you could give them.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What band do you think doesn't deserve the hype or fandom?
16·12 days agoMy understanding is that it was a more or less some kids that hung out at the same stores in a mall.
Edit: I looked it up. They hung out in Vivian’s Westwoods clothing store, Sex. Westwood and another fashion guy from those stores managed and styled them. Sounds like Westwood might have even fed them lines that became lyrics. They barely knew how to play their instruments for a solid chunk of that time.
Sounds like a boy band to me.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What band do you think doesn't deserve the hype or fandom?
18·12 days agoSex Pistols. Don’t get me wrong I like them, but they were children who made one album and were barely a band for a year. Their hype really comes down to the story of Sid and Nancy’s deaths.
Yes, I think it’s an especially good idea to verify them right now. I don’t want some imposter escalating a war.
Do I want them in my spaces? Fuck no. I would prefer to abolish ICE and arrest all those treasonous fuckers.
But, that’s the reality of the world right now. It’s important to know what is real and what isn’t.
It could be either way, I haven’t tried “vibe coding” but I imagine you’re right if you don’t tell it to explicitly deal with CORS, AI probably doesn’t
When I was learning, CORS was a pain in my ass. It’s not taught well, and often glossed over.

Technology@lemmy.world•After Micron's greedy decision, SK Hynix could also exit consumer DRAM and NAND businessEnglish
11·18 days agoYeah more or less. The Verge did a whole podcast episode on RAM over the holidays. It was a good explainer.
Basically, RAM that goes into AI data centers isn’t necessarily the same as RAM in your computer. There are only 3 companies making RAM. They are altering their fabrication lines to accommodate for the commercial/AI ram so they can make more money. That means they can’t produce consumer RAM.
It’s hard and expensive to build RAM and chip factories because there is one company that makes the machine that does it. So anyone who wants to stay a RAM factory is at their mercy.
The Verge reporter said he expects ram prices might go up significantly more in the next 6months to a year.

1·19 days agoI’m not worried about password resets. They have my email but not my password. I use a password manager, and keep my email account locked up tight. As long as they can’t get in my email, they can’t change my password.

47·19 days agoI’m conflicted on this post. OSS does a lot of good as a whole, but regardless of monetization, I don’t want any of my work training an AI. I can respect that portion of his opinion.
True. I still think Brave is a shitty company but that’s an absolutely fair criticism. It would be better if it was Open Source.
