Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Script idea to discover underappreciated Lemmy instances
8·10 days agoNowadays I just recommend Piefed.zip.
If someone wants a regional instance they usually figure it out by themselves, also the Piefed instance chooser can help and has a latency indicator: https://piefed.social/post/1337079
For the nationale behind, here’s a list from a post on !fedibridge@lemmy.dbzer0.com that’s a few months old https://lemmy.zip/c/fedibridge@lemmy.dbzer0.com?dataType=Post&pageCursor=P2d1f586&sort=NewComments
- Lemmy.world is too big
- sh.itjust.works names contains “shit”, which can deter users
- lemmy.ca is Canadian-centric
- feddit.org, is German-centric, but technically English speaking too
- dbzer0 is focus centric
- programming.dev is topic-centric
- blahaj is queer-focused
- discuss.tchncs.de has a difficult name
- lemmy.sdf.org does not defederate anyone
- beehaw defederates LW and SJW
- infosec.pub is topic-centric
- aussie.zone is country-centric
- midwest.social is region-centric and admin can power trip at times (https://sopuli.xyz/post/20038037)

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Discussion: Long-term need for automation tools for moderationEnglish
2·17 days agothere needs to be some rough guide on making your community federated and then advertising it effectively so communities can get that early kick.
We can draft something on !fedigrow@lemmy.zip

11·18 days agoThe kind of drama Lemm.ee was experiencing wouldn’t be mitigated by any automatic measure, it was mostly human factors

Fediverse@lemmy.world•Discussion: Long-term need for automation tools for moderationEnglish
12·18 days agoThis burns people out. Key moderators of communities quit and communities become abandoned.
Are you referring to something specific? I haven’t seen a trend of a lot of mods quitting, modding is just not that attractive in the first place

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Why doesn't the Fediverse have a "one sign-in" like NOSTR?
6·20 days agoAdmins usually don’t want to allow direct registrations without email validation as it makes it too easy for spammers

2·1 month agoPiefed has multiple ways of pulling in comms an instance doesnt yet know about. The newest version for example pulls in comms that have been posted on !newcommunities@lemmy.world
Consider joining !fediverse@piefed.social
We have two fediverse communities already, we don’t really need three :)

61·1 month agothink there is a problem when you have the likes of !christianity@lemmy.world being downvote brigaded to the point that it actually is unfairly balancing the posts due to the slim minority of Christians on here.
Are you and the other mods aware that you can see who downvotes, and potentially ban systematic downvoters? That’s a topic that is regularly debated, but I guess in your case it could be useful?
It’s back up
I like Programming.dev, but they aren’t known for 100% uptime
Thank you! https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/issues/1330
I know I’m talking to Rimu, I was just curious how Piefed would be able to track that

But why not use your main account? Creating an alt just for this question seems strange
