Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What technologies are constant failures but we can't stop trying to make work?
125·5 days agoThe hype around biotech. It has been around for 40 years, and the next big thing is just around the corner, but progress is always much slower than all predictions. Nuclear fusion will be available in ten years time; I’ve heard that in 1970, 1980, 1990 etc etc. Conquering the solar system, the universe - perhaps in 1000 years?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's an objectively terrible movie that you love anyway?
1·9 days agoI think it was poorly directed - it wasn’t the actors fault! The director was Paul Verhoeven, admittedly he had some successes in the USA after that (robocop was fun) but he created another badly directed movie with Black Book, which was again a pity, as Carice van Houten is a great actress.

4·10 days agoI’ve just switched to posteo , they are located in Berlin, Everything seems to work well, but they cost (a minimum of) one euro a month - what I liked was that It is easy to scale up, and they appear to be very ecology conscious. Ad free, located in Berlin.
