iOS would be the better alternative, if it wasn’t for the hardware they run on. After all, Apple is infamous for their blatant planned obsolescence on their iPhones since the iPhone 6. Unfortunately, Google seems to be following Apple in this way as well since they launched an update that made the Pixel 6a’s battery so much worse than before. Therefore, we must all have a dumb phone + Linux phone set up…or something
TFW more than half of my phone’s applications is getting thanos snapped and it’s also carrier-locked
I’ve tried applying for jobs that didn’t really require my degree but was adjacent to it like data entry and help desk after graduating unemployed, only to be met with more rejection and failure. It’s as if my degree doesn’t exist. Unless you have any suggestions for a job that only requires a non-specific degree, but I’ve heard having a degree in itself isn’t valuable to employers at all unless it’s related in some way to the job. Either way, I’m trying to stay motivated to make projects on the side to hopefully refine my programming even further, but not only do I don’t have any ideas for projects that don’t already exist, but I’m not fully convinced that it will be worth the time. Especially considering every other attempt that involved working and studying for many hours have blown up in my face so far.
You’re so right. That’s why I graduated with a degree in computer science with a 3.58 GPA whilst carrying my teams on projects and worked my ass off to apply to many jobs and internships during my education as well as learning additional skills not being taught to me on the side…only to be met with nothing but rejection after rejection without so much as an internview. Guess I should just work at Walmart for $14/hr because I’m a talentless hack that will never amount to anything. $70,000 well spent!
Why are you assuming I’m pro-capitalism? It was joke (thus the /j) because I found the framing of OP’s argument strange because (at least to me) it seemed more like an argument for fuedalism than socialism.
I do now realize that I am incorrect with my initial assumption and thus I get why my joke wasn’t very well received. I probably shouldn’t have made it. Though I am confused as to why you made so many assumptions about my beliefs just from a dumb joke I probably shouldn’t have made. If anything, I’m more anti-capitalism than pro-capitalism.
I mean, tbf Feudalism and Capitalism isn’t all that different from one another. The only difference is that Feudalism has the hierarchy embedded into government via the monarchy whilst Capitalism’s hierarchy is enforced by corporations controlled by a different select few people.
Whether Socialism actually does replace Capitalism we have yet to see, I’d definitely prefer it over Capitalism.
You’re right. At least under feudalism we had job security. We should return to tradition /j
I was banned from Reddit as a “security precaution” which I assume means they didn’t like the fact that my browser was always security hardened thus they couldn’t track me to feed me ads.
I was already considering leaving for Lemmy, but when they straight up banned me for doing nothing wrong other than protect my privacy, that was the final straw. Mind you, I didn’t even use Reddit that frequently anyway, which made me all the more baffled by their sudden decision with no warnings at all.
Yeah, if Android effectively kills fdroid, then it essentially becomes like iOS. Whilst you can technically still sideload, apps must get certified by Google themselves and there’s no way they’ll allow 90% of fdroid unless its their Google Play versions.Tbf though, I didn’t know the background thing, which just goes to show that neither of them are ideal. Especially since Apple locks down their devices really hard which turns things like transferring files without a cloud service into a challenge. Therefore, in the future, I might just use a dumb phone for basic phone calls and text messages (meanly just for things like job applications or services like pharmacies) and a Linux phone for everything else. That’s assuming Linux phones have evolved just enough to be usable alongside a dumb phone for what it can’t do, which is SMS.
