I don’t feel like leaving the records in-table is that terrible. Maybe even partition on the deleted-at column to keep the performance impact minimal. The benefit of simplicity massively outweighs the rest for me

Programmer Humor@programming.dev•What a joke, can't believe people still voluntarily use this OS
12·18 days agoExcept the code covers SUCH a vague issue that it’s useless. Not very precise when any issue with the store gives you the same code. Maybe it couldn’t find a DNS record for the online store. Maybe its local db is corrupt. Maybe it’s been locked out administratively. Doesn’t matter which root cause, same error code, so it’s not a “precise” error code.
These may not be the case in this instance, but in many, many other instances, it sure has been

Exactly. Maybe one of your less close friends turns out to be a serial killer. Unbeknownst to you now you’ve made some jokes and had brunch with them. Now a team of cops is going through everything you’ve ever texted anyone because it’s unencrypted, correlating things to make you look horrible. Suddenly you’re getting your life ruined.
There are cases of innocent people riding their bikes past an unknown crime scene getting arrested for murder because their phone was reporting their location to Google. Try explaining to your boss that you’re missing work today because you’re in jail for a murder charge. Privacy is important even when you think it’s not and perhaps especially when you think it’s not
Who out here with 8 friends? In this economy??
A lot of times the larger diameter wheels are actually a fair bit weaker than smaller ones, especially when the larger ones include rubber coating etc.
They sure roll over a tiny speck of dust better though
That article is giving evidence that zelensky isn’t a Nazi. While Nazis may be fascist, not all fascists are Nazis. What you’ve linked isn’t supporting evidence of anyone saying the quote in the op.
Nobody says that. Who are you quoting?

Opensource@programming.dev•"I support it only if it's open source" should be a more common viewpoint
1·6 months agoI don’t disagree. I believe if public/government funds are used to develop software, that software should be open source. Same with many of the developments paid for by the government… If we the people are paying for it, it should be open

99% chance they were going with Ender, but there’s that 1% chance they were going with Pigman and that’s what I’ll choose to believe

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Jellyfin 10.11 RC1 ReleasedEnglish
12·8 months ago“Breaks all compatibility [with emby]” was my interpretation of that. Not a huge deal either way but I’d definitely have been calling it 11 with this DB rework myself

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Jellyfin 10.11 RC1 ReleasedEnglish
22·8 months agoBasically, yes. Forces plugins not to use potentially database-engine-specific SQL so that server admins don’t have to select their DB based on plugins for jellyfin being compatible.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•Jellyfin 10.11 RC1 ReleasedEnglish
186·8 months agoI kinda agree here. https://jellyfin.org/docs/general/contributing/release-procedure/
Claims to follow semantic versioning, explicitly mentioning changes to plugin APIs as reasoning for a new major version.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Who are some people in powerful positions or 1%ers that are genuinely good people?
11·9 months agoI have a benefit of the doubt thing here, not that any billionaire I’ve heard of deserves it. If I suddenly had a billion dollars, would I donate to an existing charity with an administration I don’t know and trust or would I think “hmm I can better choose what happens with this money” and start my own charitable enterprise? Like a bill/Miranda Gates situation.
I know if I had a billion dollars worth of shares of a company I wouldn’t necessarily liquidate it all for philanthropy either. Do I hold onto control of these stocks while attempting to guide the company in a more ethical way? Idk. It’s an interesting thought

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Will the Community Help Me Find a Clock Movement with Pendulum with WiFi or Atomic?
1·9 months agoWhile I appreciate that time zones change including dst… Your porch light shouldn’t care about dst, it should probably just care about actual light levels

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Will the Community Help Me Find a Clock Movement with Pendulum with WiFi or Atomic?
2·9 months agoFwiw v clocks don’t need to have WiFi to auto adjust for dst. Just being date-aware and having a method to configure dst is all it takes.

Who’s out here saying Ukraine should bomb “all the cities”? Most people from the first frame of OP would also be saying stop the bombing, not bomb more. E.g. stop the bombing of Palestine etc.
