We have a problem with heavy truck traffic destroying roads and bridges. It’s really strange that the EU is now pushing for even heavier trucks. That’s not great for our infrastructure
Well, to be fair, it’s the US pushing for it. The EU might merely be rolling over. (But also, hopefully hasn’t done so yet, as per another comment.)
While this is all quite concerning, it’s worth noting that no policy has passed yet and they are still in the negotiation phase.
EU Transport Ministers have stripped back the European Commission’s proposals to modernise periodic technical inspections (PTI) for vehicles and, at the same time, paved the way for the unchecked proliferation of longer and heavier vehicles (LHVs) across the continent.
However the final shape of the proposals is subject to negotiations with the European Parliament and Commission.
Just getting silly here, but what if we put the train-esque thingy onto a platform that can actually handle the weight adequately? Namely two steel rails?
