Two days after being placed on a paid leave of absence, Matt Mullenweg says he has been reinstated as CEO of Automattic, according to a Slack message seen by TechCrunch. WordPress Executive Director Mary Hubbard confirmed Mullenweg’s return to the CEO role in a Friday post on X, which the official WordPress account shared and Mullenweg reposted.

    I work with WordPress professionally and honestly I really do enjoy the platform, there’s a lot of it that’s very good. Having said that, none of my personal projects are on WordPress. Most of them are on Hugo and soon a lot of them will be on 11ty.

      Wordpress has a lot of security issues due to its age and modularity. At some point devs needed to just say no, they never did, and now it’s everyone’s problem

        It’s not the devs but their clients that need to change. Plus many of the arguments against WordPress can also be made about Windows. Neither platform is going away any time soon.
