I love Rex Krueger’s videos, and I was thinking about his planing stop while cleaning up in the shop when i happened upon my collection of ‘dull and/or burnt reciprocating tool blades that I won’t throw away because who knows’ and it occured to me that these are the same shape, and rough size as a screwdown planing stop, while conveniently fitting over a dog, or using the existing holes to screw it down.
Grab a torch and heat them up for cutting foam.
Cut them into lockpicking tools.
Use a grinder to remove all sharp edges and then rivet them slightly overlapping to leather straps and then that leather strapping to heavy canvas. Now you have a set of wasteland armor.
Weld them into a vase or other container shape.
All valid uses. Or you could even use them as a plane stop on your workbench! ;)
I would probably cut or break most of the blade off. Having that big diving board sticking out makes me think that if it’s at a slight up angle, that extra length would give it leverage to bend upwards as the board is forced against it, which might catch your plane blade or worse, your arm.
good thinking.
