Having switched over from DoTA I was trying to find a MOBA we could play together but had trouble with the toxicity. I love the complex and competitive nature of those kinds of games, but the toxicity that comes along with it doesn’t sit with me as easily anymore. I just want to play collaboratively with a group, I want both teams to be interested in a good match and, at most, good spirited jabs in the chat.
The matchmaking disparity was there when I played as well, but I wasn’t sure if they made changes. If you’re still sticking with it it might be a good reason to try and get back into it a little

Oh never mind, definitely trans.
They want to steal her ‘horn’? She hides her true identity from all but her friends?
Unicorn is silly for me personally, but, hey, they’ve got a gargoyle and a blob and everything else, who am I to complain about character design

Wait, are they trans?
And is deadlock worth playing solo? I played for a bit in early access but couldn’t keep enough friends interested to stay long term

Played rocket league to de-stress from Dota. Now, none of that. My brain and heart and sanity just can’t take it. Mostly a solo game kind of person these days or co-op.
Statistics disagree with this. Some are listing ‘porn seeking’ where they include erotica and non-video content as high as 44%, others that are looking at video only are showing 11-15% or so. I’d have to go looking again, but that’s still not a small number of users, much more than 1%.

I don’t know. My assumption is that they’re easier to put together than well thought out titles and clear discussion lines, and there’s a certain level of inherent ‘safety’ in posting a picture/meme that does a lot of the heavy lifting for you for a joke. Not that I don’t like them, just that that’s my read of why they choose them over discussion

You ask ‘wouldn’t it be better’ if there were less memes
The community, through it’s posting, voting, and reposting, has chosen Memes regardless of whether it’d be better.
A lot of answers in here say “that’s how the fediverse works, people post what they want and engage with what they want, what they don’t want they can unsubscribe or block to curate their own feed, to avoid seeing parts of what the collective is sharing/talking about when using memes”.
What you’re describing requires unilateral control over what content various communities will engage in. It doesn’t matter if that’s what people like, so much as it’s what people continue to choose. If they like it, great. If they don’t, they’ll either curat their feed and not have a clue what you’re talking about regarding memes on the Frontpage, or they aren’t bothered or even like the memes on the Frontpage and aren’t looking to seek out more nuanced discussions and serious threads.

I don’t think he’s taking a shitty stance in stating that your job is relatively safe. Just that there are tons of safety regulations and protections that keep your profession off of a list like this
“Like a leaf caught aflame, it’s matter converted to heat and the bonds broken down to ash. It’s not gone, it’s structure has changed to the point of no longer being ‘a leaf’, and what we see before us when looking at someone/something who has passed on is the same as ashes in the fire. Changed, but jot truly gone”
