Sometimes I wonder what the prevalent response to AI would be if we lived in a better world? There are environmental and resource concerns, but I think if they weren’t desperately trying to shove it everywhere to make a profit I’m not sure those would be unmanageable.
Information still wants to be free, but the way corporations are actually using AI right now in our economic hellscape punches people much lower in the (Maslow’s) hierarchy of needs.
I wonder if that counts those of us who watched it after the fact on the official YouTube posting?
The folks up at Whipple here in Minneapolis have been chucking dildoes at ICE and local law enforcement. Helps that one of the major spots for local resistance is a sex toy store, and they’ve got a lot of “expired” dildoes around.
(If you see reports of “objects” thrown at fascists, it’s not chunks of ice anymore, lol.)
Hank Green has a video on his channel where he ranks AI company logos based on how much they look like buttholes.
Butt it’s not just AI companies - I ordered something from Walmart last year and I was looking at the box in my recycling, thinking the snowflake pattern was kinda cool… then I thought about that Hank Green vid and realized that the Walmart star kinda looks like a butthole too.
If you live in a place with proper winter, look at how well the sidewalks around the property are maintained after snow or a bad freeze thaw cycle or the like. It’s a good indication if property management is on top of their shit or if problems will just be ignored until the city gets involved.
Should I pull the trigger on the Pixel 8 listing I’ve got up on eBay right now? My level of tech savvy is ‘I installed Bazzite on my gaming laptop and it’s mostly just worked’, I think I should be fine with Graphene but…

My roommate watched a woman get dragged from her wrecked car, bleeding and screaming for help, being disappeared by ICE. They were recording and I’ve seen the video. I’ll probably never forget it. I carry a whistle now but I pray I’ll never need it. We’re like two weeks into whatever the fuck this is and I’m already sick of it. I’m tired of running to the window every time I hear a car alarm, I’m tired of wondering if I hear the wind or a whistle. I’m tired of worrying about more people I know getting abducted, and scrutinizing every vehicle that drives past if they’re going to fuck with me because I’m visibly queer and also trying not to be mistaken for the gestapo occupying my city. Is this an occupation? And I know war is worse. Fuck all of this.

Is Malta that unheard of? I’ve got a path to EU citizenship and I’m working on it. Maybe it’s just Minnesota in winter influencing me but Malta is one of the first places I want to check out to maybe move to. On paper they’ve got some of the best legal protections for trans people on the planet (although I’m aware it’s partly pinkwashing for political corruption). My problem with winter is having to extract myself from the cozy blankets in order to earn money to survive. It’s hard, yo.
I medically transitioned nearly 15 years ago and my parents still won’t use correct pronouns for me, at this point they just look like they’re going senile. But they live in Florida and rural bumfuck NH in the summers so I haven’t seen them in person in like five years.
I was supposed to call today, but my mom hasn’t responded to my text yet so fuck em.
I tracked them down and they’re on piefed now and display names and such are odd over there, let me try tagging them.

This is a hilariously awkward suggestion. At the scale of the average save icon, what do you think a grain silo symbol would look like?
Space shuttle launches. I’ve seen basically every one that’s happened in my lifetime since I grew up like 30 miles from Cape Canaveral, we’d watch the initial launch on TV then run outside to watch the shuttle rise over the trees in the yard. The solid rocket boosters glow and you could see them separate and fall back down.
The first time I drove out to the coast to watch as an adult my friend and I were sitting along the intracoastal and some dolphins came up to say hi while we were waiting.
