I think people use that word to mean immature. Childish implies that a behavior is age-inappropriate, but also implies that the behavior would be appropriate for a child, which is often not true. I think you made the right choice with screw into plastic and captive nuts. If you’re not going to take it apart, I think that’s plenty.
