Stunning. This is worth sharing. I looked at some of the sources and the data seems legit. I’d be curious to see any criticisms or challenges as these sorts of estimates are very difficult to make. As far as I can tell it represents the best of our current knowledge though. I was completely floored by the mass of wild animals compared to humans and the amount of livestock. We really need to calm the fuck down!
Was the article translated poorly from Estonian or written by an AI? I had a hell of a time following. Sounded like they are moving away from something you could take a hammer to - ie using patrol car cameras instead of fixed position cameras. But then at the end “As of today, we have decided that the owner of the road (i.e., national or local government in most cases – ed.) will install stationary cameras,” Loigo said"
It’s your take they are moving towards more stationary cameras but with AI installed?
The part that really gets me is that you have to opt out to not have everything you say saved. Bonkers that that isn’t the default! There’s no good user-based reason for this. Alexa doesn’t remember shit for users, like any AI there’s no recall feature. You can’t say remember what I told you last night - give the address for that place, I was drunk and don’t remember the name.
Monitization doesn’t have to be so painful. You make it sound like it’s a very natural evolution. There’s some serious greed involved here. The shift from growth / investment doesn’t have to progress into such a squeeze for users. Reddit isn’t aiming to operate on margins. If the nerds were in charge the goal would be to cover development, costs, and upkeep while paying hard working people fair salaries. The goal is pure profit maximization now. The people behind these changes aren’t hiding much. Spez isn’t a well meaning genius trying to keep his coffee cup full while he codes. He’s a corporate shill piece of shit. I don’t buy these apologetics.
Tim Apple is garbage
Is there a tradein program to get my old phone back?
Finally give the second most hated advertisers a chance for once!
The nerds lost the internet. It’s a fucking Kmart now.
Know that If it doesn’t work, I’m not giving up.
AI will figure it out my dude!!
With quantum computing if you ignore it you are simultaneously not ignoring it?
I’m gonna go ahead and try without a Google search.
Bing / chatgpt already does this. I’ve seen it high tail out of tasks or totally lie that it’s still working on something when it obviously isn’t at all.
You jest, but I’m keeping an open mind after the surprising popularity of twitch. I could see people watching AIs play games for them and making temperature adjustments to things like proclivity toward side quests or how serious vs slapstick the play would be.
Yeah maybe. Switching infrastructure would be a headache and expensive though. Last I checked the off the shelf versions which is how I would want to start at least didn’t have wifi capability. Is there a turnkey version that does now?
Looks great!
This has been a huge let down. Thought at the very least home assistants which are marginally useful could become less infuriating with an intelligence boost, but not at all. I’d be happy if I could simply upload a damn 64 Kb thesaurus at this point to my alexa so she would not ignore everything I say if I don’t remember the exact right commands.
Depends on your dishwasher. Even in top rack after a couple of washes PETG it warped for me on standard wash. If you run a dry cycle or sterilization cycle on your dishwasher forget it. If its anything precise (I printed a lid with threads) a single standard wash is enough to ruin precision with subtle warping. Also the dishwasher can introduce moisture into gaps created by printing that can grow mold or bacteria. I think we would all love better options for dishwashable printed materials, but I would argue PETG is not really it.
This does seem to be exactly the problem. It is solvable, but I haven’t seen any that do it. They should be able to calculate a confidence value based on number of corresponding sources, quality ranking of sources, and how much interpolation of data is being done vs. Straightforward regurgitation of facts.
This is making the Republicans so nervous.
