Oh god yes! I like to jog in my neighborhood at night and whenever one of these vehicles with super bright lights drives by I literally have to stop in my tracks because I can’t see a damn thing in front of me. It’s even worse when I’m driving!

Not sure if you’re straw manning me, or what. Because your reply doesn’t have anything to do with what I said. And if you think my original comment has anything to do with religion, or it’s defense, you’d be very wrong.

Uhhh, what!?
And if you keep Byntleigh Destini Starr, or Jysis Saves Smith … You’ve probably earned it
The victims are the people being given these names. You are the blamer, because you think they’ve “earned it” because they haven’t changed it. My original comment had absolutely nothing to do with the article…

Your argument boils down to victim blaming. 🤷

Judging people based on the name their parents gave them at birth seems like a poorly thought out idea.

Firefly is better imo, but it does have the “advantage” of only having had one very good season. Would Firefly have kept the same quality or better over 6 seasons? Who knows. We’ve all seen shows with excellent first seasons that later drop in quality (Altered Carbon for example). Regardless, The Expanse is a great sci-fi show that is at least worth trying out if you liked Firefly.

ITT: The most politically charged discussion of compression software I’ve ever read…

Taking Roko’s basilisk to a whole new level!
Roko’s basilisk, is a thought experiment which states that there could be an artificial superintelligence in the future that, while otherwise benevolent, would punish anyone who knew of its potential existence but did not directly contribute to its advancement or development, in order to encourage that advancement.

I enjoyed both when they were still airing, but I can completely understand why people watching them today for the first time wouldn’t. It’s one of those, “you had to be there” kinda things. Just like I probably wouldn’t enjoy watching The Beverly Hillbillies or I Love Lucy if I tried watching them today.

I read it 3 times, and I’m still not sure if I understand what they were trying to say.

What is PayPal mafia
The founders and original employees of PayPal. Peter Thiel and Elon Musk are the most notable “members.”

One of the things I miss the most about the 1900s is that people didn’t expect you to be reachable 24/7. Even though cellphones had been around since the 80s very few people had one. That meant that most people could only be reached through the family landline. If you didn’t answer people would just assume you were out of the house, thus unreachable. That all started to change in the 2000s when cellphones became common place. Now days I feel like everyone expects me to pick up when they call, and if I don’t they expect a better excuse than “I don’t feel like talking right now.” As a very introverted person who often needs a lot of alone time, it sucks, and sometimes I really wish I could go back to a world without cellphones.
The No paywall link doesn’t work for me. I get a “404 Not Found,” and when I go to their main page I get a generic “Sorry! If you are the owner of this website, please contact your hosting provider.”
Anyone else having this issue? Removepaywalls.com was working fine for me up until about a week or two ago.
