It was a stereo from 1987.

Senior Chief Petty Officer. Starfleet is in my blood, and I’ve spent my entire adult life in service to boldly going.
Keiko and Molly are my favorite humans, but Transporter Room 3 will always be my favorite.
Just don’t ask who what’s in the pattern buffer.

I tested this with my Facebook app in 2013. Found a Spanish radio station, set my phone down next to it overnight, and for several weeks I was seeing ads exclusively in Spanish. Deleted the app the first day I saw them in Spanish, and deleted my account not long after that.
My wife still uses them after 5 years together and me pointing out all the times it’s obviously eavesdropping on us, and she’s even been creeped out by it before. Still uses it…
Unless my microphone and camera have physical switches, I will assume they are being used. Those little “your camera and microphone are off” icons in the corner of the screen don’t reassure me.
Boolean operators are meaningless these days.
Elmo has claimed to be autistic at multiple points. Most recently to my knowledge, to try and excuse his nazi salute.
So when RFK was drooling droning on about how terrible autism is, and how autistic people can’t use the restroom unassisted, by extension he was saying Musk can’t have a solo bathroom experience.
This is such a weird comment, full of “NiCd batteries aren’t good enough so solar/wind are useless because we can’t store the power” energy.
It’s a test reactor, it’s meant to be smaller than the “big boys”, and in a few years it’ll be smaller and more efficient.
Sure, it’s not going to singlehandedly power an entire country, but distributed power is better than localized. 1000 small reactors placed all over means less likelihood of system wide failure than a handful of large ones.
It was.
In Ohio? I’m almost positive it isn’t legal. It’s definitely illegal in states like California. But they’re banking on nobody recording their interview audio (which I will now be doing as Ohio is single-party state) and nobody complaining if asked.
I doubt it’s a company policy, but I did send an email to their company offices to complain about it, for all the good it will do.
Not programming, but in the same vein, A Trek Bicycle store manager asked me in an interview if I would be willing to work a trial shift the next day building bicycles. Unpaid, of course. Just to see if I was a good fit.
Of course, since I was used to building 50 a day, I would have gotten all of them done in a single shift whereas they were needing to call in stores from surrounding areas to come help in a few days.
I laughed and said if they needed help tomorrow I would be happy to work for my usual fee of $20/bike.
Oddly, I did not get the job
Addicts always gotta justify how they get their fix, I guess.
Person 1: “this thing isn’t possible”
Person 2: it is, and I have experienced it myself.
Person 3: “yeah but here is a list of reasons I just made up why your experience doesn’t matter”
The first comment was not saying “after long enough time certain drives do this/hardware degrades/won’t run in modern machines”, they were blanket stating “no storage lasts beyond 2-3 years”
no storage drive on the planet last more than two to three years
I’ll tell that to the laptop HDD I pulled out of a laptop last month that hasn’t turned on since 2018 and copied a large portion of the data so my mother can have old family photos she forgot to transfer.
I’m positive there are issues somewhere on it, since radiation is a thing and the HDD case isn’t 6ft of lead. I just didn’t encounter any with the 50-60gb I transferred.
On a long enough timescale, sure. But not a couple years for HDDs at least.
I know for a fact I’m opinionated, and don’t have problems sharing them.
Please, by all means, block me if you think seeing my comments is adversely affecting you. I’d rather be ignored by someone than make their day worse (unless they’re actively trying to make others miserable, but that’s a separate discussion)
The fediverse has definitely gotten a little less hostile after blocking a few things.
And remember you can jump ship to another instance at any time! I’ve hopped a few times but for now my instance is filling my needs without much drama that I am aware of.
a spy chief saying something out loud is mainly a diplomatic message and not a secret plan.
Unless you’re in the US, then they text secret plans directly to you.
But that’s fair, it just seems like something a child would say when they’re losing a game. “oh you’re all right where I want you, this was all part of my plan”
They still aren’t fully ready to fight Ukraine, in what universe are they ready to fight a NATO nation, let alone all of them minus the US?
The only way I see them being “ready to target NATO” is if the cheeto in chief is commanded to join in by his handlers.
Marketing really missed an opportunity for “InfiniTurd” on that one.

Man, I didn’t even know David Bowie was in Ohio that day, let alone the same zoo!
Don’t judge until you try some ghost dick for yourself.

I use my cell data in my bedroom because it’s more stable than my router connection. I wish I had control of the router, but it’s not my house. I’d just move the router to a more centralized location instead of the farthest corner.
Back before I moved, I kept the router at one of the reduced power modes it had built in(can’t remember the exact settings) since the room it sat in was the best room for signal distribution, you still got full signal anywhere you went.
To continue with the argument of “the market will self-regulate and people wouldn’t buy that brand anymore so they would never do it again”
Okay but how many people died, how many people are suffering long-term effects, and what’s stopping them from adding a different deadly thing to our food?
