As a hater of pre-commit hooks, this one seems like it’s actually good.
That said, the writer would do well to check out Jujutsu. Its model of branchless commits, which you apply a branch to afterward, would alleviate a lot of her annoyances.

It’s a single line of configuration to turn off some long-running tests.
On one hand, that’s not exactly the high-volume slop that other repos are subject to, and doesn’t affect how I use Git.
On the other hand: why did we need AI to write this?
You have noticed that GitHub has had a lot of downtime recently, right? You’d probably prefer something more stable.
I acknowledge that the idea is amusing.
Let’s be clear: anything that prevents devs from pushing to a branch will necessarily result in code being isolated on a dev’s local machine. This is always a bad idea, and will always lead to lost work. I’ve seen it happen too many times.
Pre-commit hooks and pre-push hooks must be skipped, and eventually deleted. Every single time.

I’ve been loving Jujutsu VCS. It’s a terminal app, works on all 3 major desktop OSes, and makes it so easy to manage efforts across multiple branches.
Also, jj undo is like a gift from the gods.
Signal is important to some of my contacts and its E2E encryption is excellent. The only thing the phone number gives away to the outside is “has this person used Signal in the past?”. Since it is not illegal to use Signal in my country, I’m not worried.
Can you use Signal on a Linux phone? I know there’s a desktop Linux client, but it relies on being activated from an Android or iPhone app to function, in my experience.

NixOS for me. It’s a package manager (a very nice, declarative one) that you can use on any Linux (or Mac), and there’s also an entire distro based on it.
Qubes OS. Enjoy a taste of absolute security.
