Europe@feddit.org•What are some of the best Christmas markets worth visiting in the EU? [AskEurope]English
1·5 days ago- The gay winter market at Schaafenstraße, close to Neumarkt is fun to visit. It’s pretty over the top with lots of tourists but the local community is there as well
- The Stadtgarten market is a lesser known, more intimate market next to the train station Köln West
They’re all crowded though and try to sell stuff you don’t need. But everyone knows that. :)

Linux@lemmy.ml•What's a good Google Drive replacement for syncing my Keepass database?
8·23 days agoI have syncthinged my desktop (Mint as well) and my smartphone with a Raspberry Pi (DietPi!) as middledevice. If I change something on one of the two, the file gets synched to the Raspi, which then gives it to the other device as soon as it’s online. This works great since a couple of years.

Technology@lemmy.world•kurzgesagt – AI Slop Is Killing Our Channel / Destroying the InternetEnglish
7·28 days agoWe will not solve it, it’s way too late for that. Still, every 0.01°C additional warming counts. People not born yet will suffer more from everything we don’t do now. So, rolling on our backs and giving up is not helping at all. Going vegan is a easy first step to make a difference. Start blowing up pipelines after that. :)

76·29 days agoPlants have feelings too
No, they do not. There is no serious study to suggest that they do. Plants do not have a brain or central nervous system. At most, they respond to stimuli. If you really care that much about the welfare of plants, you should go vegan, since many more plants “die” for animal feeding. Do you feel bad while mowing your lawn? And would you rather rescue a potted plant than a dog from a burning house? Is docking pig tails the same as branch trimming to you? Question upon question…
Edit: Getting downvoted for scientific facts.

I’d love text information like this to be copy pasted for a couple of bytes instead of sharing screenshots of text like some filthy boomer.

14·1 month agoJust a couple of years after the generation that lived through WWII died, people are going authoritarian again. Are we really in for another round of bashing our skulls in to solve complex problems? It’s hard to not get bitter.

1·1 month agoNo, I got it from someone quoting it on some talk or podcast. Tried to low-effort-verify it but couldn’t. So I just rolled with it. :)

3·1 month ago“If everyone who understands the seriousness of the situation were to become more involved, then we would have all the people we need. We need to mobilize our friends, not convert our opponents.”

Bitwig-fanboy here. This application is insane. Instead of collecting or worse, buying, random VSTs, instruments and samples you can one stop buy Bitwig, download the free packs and have 99% of everything you’ll ever need to make music until you die. Plus you can modulate all parameters everywhere, but this already is more advanced stuff. If I had to pick one piece of software to use for the rest of my life, it’d be Bitwig. It’s on sale twice a year, watch out fi dis.

Europe@feddit.org•First Wero e-commerce transaction successfully processedEnglish
12·1 month agoWero went from “never heard of it” to “it’s already on my phone!?” to first transaction in like half a year. Now I found out that you can set an email address for transactions, just like PayPal. That’s a great option, I thought you had to use you phone number.

Came to say this. I was a Thunderbird user like we all but it started to annoy me with tabs and too many features. I gave Evolutiona a try and haven’t looked back since. It’s as simple and solid as the Email protocol, with build in contacts, tasks and calendar. I’m managing a hand full of email addresses with it, it’s responsive, no bells nor whistles, perfect for me!
