Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Have you ever met an actual dumb person?
80·2 months agoIt’s incredible how easy it is to remain in a bubble. Family, friends, neighbors, college, work colleagues - all are going to be closer to you than the average person.
Anyone who has worked retail, customer service, or otherwise general public-facing jobs will have this put in perspective pretty quickly.
Ah, Ragatha! I’m just now connecting that she looks like a Raggedy Ann doll.
A very famous child actor from the 1930s. I thought she played little orphan Annie, but I just looked it up, and I guess I was wrong!
Without knowing anything about this show, I’m guessing the Shirley Temple looking girl is friendly and normie and the chess piece in the middle is old and nutty? Those are my two.
Only one way to find out.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Has there ever been an industry that's been "enshittified" and then un-"enshittified"?
16·3 months agoCan someone make this happen with mobile games please?

7·3 months agoI’m not confident enough in my knowledge to ever open up my server externally, even after reading some methods that are allegedly safe (or relatively safe). I’d just rather not take the risk of me misunderstanding something or failing to keep current with vulnerabilities.
I suppose I see the appeal if Plex handles that without hassle, but man… not for $750. Lol

Technology@lemmy.world•Plex increasing Lifetime Plex Pass cost to whopping $750English
5·3 months agoNo, not yet. I took forever to manually rip what I have, which was a lot, and I’m still working my way through boxes of music (which I’m also hosting on Jellyfin). I’ll figure out that step next.

842·3 months agoI didn’t get into self-hosting until recently, and people recommended Jellyfin, so I don’t even know what I’m missing with Plex, if anything. It feels like Jellyfin does everything I need.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's that video game boss you've never been able to beat, or took you the longest to beat?
2·3 months agoI’m with you. What these games are selling is that feeling you get after overcoming their challenges, and if you modify that, it’s not the same product. It’s like asking an artist to also offer their painting with changes to the colors, scene, or poses of the subjects to appeal to personal tastes - yes, they could do it, but it’s a different piece of art at that point.
And omg yes, O&S. It’s not as hard now after many years of playing souls-like games, but relatively it was so hard on my first exposure to dark souls in DS1. I had no idea what I was doing, my build was jank as hell, and it took ages to beat.

Omg, I had no idea…
