  • as far as Minecraft content goes, check out Kolanii. He only uploads only every couple of months, but thats because you can tell he actually spends all that time one the video…

He started out with One Block Skyblock stuff, then did absolutely insane builds in Hardcore and has recently transitioned into a whole Kolanii cinematic universe in his Hardcore World. If your mainly interested in that, start with the an AI joined my World video, uploaded about a year ago

  • I think they should’ve called it Electron, since a Proton is a specific particle (or more accurately specific combination of 3 Quarks = Baryon) while Leptons are a whole class of particles (electron, myon, tauon, Neutrinos).

I know Electron is already taken by the JavaScript Software Framework Tool, but still.

Gluon would be a great name to combine all these different tools with each other, where the correct Proton/Lepton/FEX or other (future) translation layers are used automatically, so the user doesn’t need to know that there a different technologies under the hood depending on what your trying to run

  • Waydroid is a container (like docker), not an emulator. So waydroid on its own on a regular x86 Computer will Run only x86 Android Apps, but if it were installed on an ARM machine (like one if the Snapdragon Laptops) it would run normal (ARM) Android Apps (and no x86).

To run any android app on x86 you need to emulate ARM, which waydroid doesn’t do on its own, but scripts exist to add it to waydroid; https://github.com/casualsnek/waydroid_script

I’m assuming Valves Lepton does all if the for you, as well as using some optimized settings for some of the most popular Apps.

When I last used Waydroid (also about a year ago) I had problems with GPU Acceleration not working. All I wanted was SmartTube on my HTPC, but all videos were insanely choppy and laggy, so I hope they focus on that a lo. (if anyone knows a way to get ad-free YouTube with a TV like interface for free on linux, please let me know :) (I’ve also tried Kodi with a YouTube Plug-In and while it worked, the interface was pretty ass, so I’m just using Firefox with UBlock and a Bluetooth Mouse+Keyboard, which works but it like to be able to control it using just a cheap USB remote that I have)

It’s OK to distrust more than one Government, but how anyone can believe the Chineses Government in this matter is beyond me.

Did you not see the insanely violent crack down on Hong Kong Democracy Movement with you own eyes? Do you not remember Tianamen Square? Great Fire-Wall?

Theres liyteraly over 10GB or evidence of the persecution of Uyghurs by the Chinese Government:

I can understand not wanting to believe/trust the US and EU Govs, but trusting the Chinese Government is (IMO) insane.

  • Sure, but the waste of AI is so much worse while providing close to no benefits at all (or probably even damage society as a whole).

Just to put this in perspective: OpenAI alone had a $40 Billion funding round in March this year. That is enough to build that huge particle accelerator and run it for 20 years. OpenAI burned that money in 6 months (they needed another $40 Billion in funding in August) and all they have to show for it is GPT 5 which is just more of the same.

Sure other Science Projects could probably do a lot more with the 40 Billion, but the complete waste of resources in the persuit of AI isn’t comparable to ground breaking Physics experiments which actually helps further our understanding of the universe and the very fabric of reality.

  • The stats are from StatCounter which has this in their FAQ:

What methodology is used to calculate Statcounter Global Stats? Statcounter is a web analytics service. Our tracking code is installed on more than 1.5 million sites globally. These sites cover various activities and geographic locations. Every month, we record billions of page views to these sites. For each page view, we analyse the browser/operating system/screen resolution used and we establish if the page view is from a mobile device.

So it’s the percentage if web traffic (to sites that use this analytics service)
