Not for self-hosted installations, where Zulip aren’t paying for the storage themselves.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Who is an artist or public figure you still enjoy despite them being cancelled for bad behaviour?English
45·5 days agoScott Adams, creator of Dilbert. I have several of his print books and still enjoy reading them; ditto his old cartoons. They really spoke to me years ago, as a cubicle-coder.

Linux@lemmy.ml•Why did you move from Windows to Linux?English
1·13 days agoInstability in my WIndows NT 4 development machine. I’d been using Linux as a hobbyist for several years, but switched to it at work so I had a machine that didn’t crash every few hours.
Boy the original NAZIs would have loved to have genetic data on everyone, once they got rolling on the Holocaust.
I wonder if IBM will help with the next one, too?

5·1 month agoSuper fast, in fact it’s as responsive as my Framework 13 running either Linux or FreeBSD. But it’s running 9front, a fork of the Plan 9 operating system - so it’s much lighter-weight than either of those OSs.
And modern browsers like Firefox are so slow as to barely usable on that hardware; I was running Haiku on it prior.

7·1 month agoThanks 💖 The X200 was a gift from a colleague back in the late 2010s, when it was already very old. But it runs Plan 9 beautifully :) I’ve been tinkering with it with the vague idea of switching to it from FreeBSD as a daily driver. I think maybe I could do without Emacs but I just need a “real” Web browser too much to make the switch.

Mattermost user here, I self-host an instance for friends and family (and their children).
To upgrade and discover I’d lost access to the message history on my own instance was infuriating. I’m investigating alternatives right now.
So far Zulip seems reasonable - although Google and especially Apple being shits about push notifications means you can’t self-host push notification servers 🙄 So I’m considering forgoing push notifications altogether and leaning on email notifications instead.
