Not quite. For some product groups the declaration of conformity needs to be issued by a notified body. Most however allow self declaration.

Aren’t these machinery safety standards required for receiving the CE marking? This way the same rules apply for domestic and imported machinery. I’m not sure if the conformity declaration for machinery can be done by the supplier itself. If yes, that’s of course a way to cheat, however then the importer will be liable.
