When people talk about the All Quiet on the Western Front movie their usually referring to the 2022 Netflix adaptation since the last adaptation was in 1979, and before that 1930. I’ve heard great things about the 1930 adaptation but have no clue which your talking about :0
The original movie maybe, but the most recent netflix one felt like it cut out every scene from the book that made you actually feel for the main character. By the end of the book you understand on an empathetic level that Paul’s choice in the last scene of the book is a mercy to himself. The author deeply explores so much more then the horrors of war itself, brothership, the rich/powerful treating humans like game pieces, the effects of propaganda on those who are living the opposite reality, how the ones away from the front turn their backs on helping the troops despite being the loudest voice for pushing the war further. There is so much more to the book and its sad that such an viciously real story is dumbed down to “war bad and scary”

One big diffrence between NixOS and Guix not mentioned is NixOS(the operating system only, the package manager is agnostic) is directly tied to systemD. Nothing against systemD but if your also interested in crafting/learning everything about your system your have more freedom with Guix and the NonGuix repo (nonguix is like an unofficial AUR for guix)

iirc Debians reasoning is that on a desktop you dont really have any ports exposed anyway, so theres nothing to firewall. And on a base install your expected to follow the documentation that includes a guide to setting up a firewall
My Note 10+ is cracked, glitched out, usb-c port no longer works, but damn if it wasn’t the perfect phone. The only other phone that I felt this level of attachment too was my Moto droid 3 with the sliding keyboard

As someone else mentioned the framework pro is a good pick and also the cool new kid on the block with the repair and upgradablity(however you spell that). However spec and build quality wise, any high end business laptop will have full linux support since their be used for IT/software dev and robust enough construction to not break in a few years
That Dell looks good, ive heard good things about the new Lenovo too, really just go with whichever option is cheaper
OP this is a great laptop if this commenter is selling at a reasonable price since Dell has official linux support on this laptop since dev work is one of its main purposes
Most status LEDs are using ~0.05watts of power if not less, so 0.0012kWh per day (~0.26grams of sugar) is already efficient enough for a larger plant. Even with that bioluminescence is wildly more efficient then any LED since its basically the byproduct of a chemical reaction (like heat emission from our body’s while digesting)
This research slightly predates the above article but they touch on the fact the biggest barrier to bioluminescent plants is that plants tend to absorb the emitted light which could be solved by getting them to emit green light (and look at what color this current article has the plant emitting! Kinda cool to see scientists theorys theory put into practice)
Bioluminescence is actually decently bright when your eyes adjust to a none street light lit area! I assume though these will be used along the lines of lining sidewalks so even the dim light gives you a sense of the boundary’s of your path
As for energy consumption I don’t have any data on how much food these plants need but I cant imagine it being wildly excessive?
GOG? They’re objectively more in line with Linux ideals then Steam will ever be, considering GOG games are 100% usable without the launcher and they didnt pioneer micro transactions
Depends on your ROM, if your running stock android/ASOP/LineageOS I believe theres programs that can change the look of parts of the OS without root, but I don’t have experience with them. I had a locked Samsung and their UI is probably the most customizable without rooting your device since you can change practically everything with goodlock
Not sure what your idea of flat means with a launcher since thats more up to the theme you choose, but if your looking to get away from the stock launcher look I really like Kvaesitso, ive got it setup to have 3px of rounding and 80% transparency with blur
If your looking for a more skeuo look turn the opacity of your background boxes way down and it can look prettt good with a more skueo icon pack
