The Eichler sounds amazing.
The Eichler sounds amazing.
This is one of my partner and my biggest conflict points.
Like Gollum, she lives in the darkest, gloomiest basement, keeps the shades shut and only wants dim, warm amber light in the insufficient and poorly located light receptacles.
I on the other hand want to see what I’m doing and will open every window, tune the lights to the most white-hot, surface-of-the-sun white, and half the time I’m sitting in my hammock on the patio so I can feel the warm sunshine and get the omnidirectional sunlight. I’d like to set up her basement with some light tunnels and better lighting fixtures at some point.
I am objectively correct in this matter. :D
Crypto-quantum AI+ MaXX?
This is probably not a universal experience, but buttons are often faster. Not a car example, but my Garmin Venu watch was a touchscreen and it sucked compared to my Garmin Fenix which is 100% button controlled. I also type way faster on a tactile thumb board than an on screen keyboard.
Its been a few years, but I think it was a Honda Fit.
Recycling and right to repair. If we could reclaim ~100% of raw materials in a useful way and avoid unnecessary waste it would have a big climate impact.
I consider it space-age. I haven’t driven a non-Mazda that seemed as well thought out and functional. I wish I could rip one out and put it on my non-Mazda car. I breath a sigh of relief that my partner didn’t buy the Honda with a long finicky touchstrip to control the volume instead of a knob.
Same, I’m hoping “ol’ reliable” will last another 200k-500k miles so I won’t have to decide if I want to ride around in a privacy invading, poorly designed smart automobile, or if I’d rather just ride my bike everywhere. To be fair, my car is only around a decade old, but it’s old enough to be missing most of the smart tech, and none of the car’s functions tie in with the stereo.
Since this is a private company, could the internet theoretically flood them with so many GDPR takedown requests (since they’re undoubtedly getting data from foreign citizens) and takedown requests around California, Colorado, and other state’s laws that they couldn’t handle the influx and he gears would be gummed up to hell… in Minecraft?
To add to this. While there is “more information” that information is increasingly locked down and unsearchable. Things that used to be easy to find are now hidden in the walled gardens of sites like Facebook, X (Formerly Twitter), etc. Google Search and similar engines basically only searche ads now as everything else is locked down. It’s an internet full of data… that we can’t easily access.
Has friend 2 set his name servers to something custom, or is he using your network’s default? My partner uses an iPhone and it has some sort of built in DNS so she doesn’t benefit from me installing DNS based adblock on the network. You could see if a similar thing is at play.
No Ads
If a notification sends me an ad, I will block the app and also review whether I even need it. Anyone willing to shovel ads at me in my notifications is not my friend.
Other stuff is simple:
Follow up question: how do you handle apps that have persistent notifications?
I’ve been a Linux user since 2005ish and a DJ since at least 2013. I’ve tried a lot of music players including Rythmbox. I settled on Clementine/Strawberry or Amorok, depending on use case. Haven’t used either of them recently.
With that said, there is no right answer. Find one you like!
You can sync Obsidian with your own storage location. There are plugins to do a lot of what you’re asking for. Downside is that it’s not open source, though your content is all stored in plaintext so you won’t lose it due to lock-in. It also might be more than your asking for and a simpler, more tailored, solution may be out there. Paired with a self hosted Nextcloud server, you may solve a bunch of your PIM needs at once.
The local aspect isn’t there for most of us.
As a somewhat regular user of the Colorado outdoors, I hope we get a Colorado Hike & Bike community. I know there’s at least a few of us because we’ve discussed Denver biking in the fuckcars community before.
As far as finding replacements, my advice is don’t limit yourself by platform when finding equivalents, but focus on the quality and type of the community.
To clarify,
Early on I kind of mapped centralized and federated social media pairs, Reddit-Lemmy, Facebook-Diaspora, Twitter-Mastadon, etc.
Turns out, that was a limiting mindset.
The best basket-weaving group might be a Mastadon hashtag. The best Lego minifigure painting content might be on Pixtagram, and we all know he best place to ask a question is not askreddit, but asklemmy!
Depends on if they grew older or cooler with the years!
Mid-30s male here. I’ve been rocking the shoulder length to armpit length rock and roll hair. Many of the boomers give me a hard time, but everyone under 40 loves it.
Edit: I rarely give endorsements, but I would have cut my hair years ago without CurlSmith conditioner and intense serum.
I borrowed a Mazda 3 with the joystick dial a few times. It’s absolutely brilliant.
I’m in the US, so it comes down to insurance. Can I be on my Spouse’s insurance during that time? How much would I have to pay to do COBRA insurance for 3 months (For non-us folks, this allows you to continue your insurance for a few months after leaving a job but tends to be very expensive as you have to pay your part and the company’s part)
As a general principal, I’d rather have the time than the money.
My Colorado Comrades in corporate environments take the time. I’ve seen a number of guys go out on Paternity since we enacted paid paternity leave in our state. It’s legally protected, we fought and voted for it. If your boss doesn’t like it they can eat shit and die because it’s your right. Your family is more important than some corporate nonsense.
