You can boot windows of an usb stick. You can create that with rufus. I tried it out of curiosity and it actually works.

I heard some time ago that windows does encrypt the drive but you need an active online account and the key will be saved online. So do people forget their online passwords and methods to recover that said account? I dont like m$ and am using linux, but people loosing their passwords, being uninformed about their systems and dont so backups is not the direct fault of the operating system.

I know. Mint mostly stands for the cinnamon desktop. If you choose mint for another, you probably just can use the specific ubuntu spin or even debian itself.
I allways wonder why its mint and not kde, which seems more mature and even more like windows.
