It’s not delivery, it’s de… struction of human life and exploitation of natural resources.
Damn it. When I lived in the South I would’ve loved this. Plus a speaker for a loud engine rev.
Oh, definitely not optimal progression. But there’s some basic things we could easily do that improve both safety and freedom.
Getting rid of racist cops, for example. Increased safety and freedom for black people. Costs us literally nothing.
You’re talking about trade offs and maximization.
That’s not reality yet. In reality, we have less freedom AND less safety than we could. There’s plenty of room to increase both.
Once we get to a maximized state, then tradeoffs are necessary. But we’re very far from that at the moment.
If only we had a way to collect money from companies as they operate. Damn.
Edit: I know you said in this case, but taxing companies for this makes sense and needs to be said
Mine does reminders and events now. It can also do Google home stuff.
I really wish there was a way to consume news in a daily update. This drip feed of often redundant chaos is exhausting.
Maybe newspapers were a good idea…
Oh, sure, if you assume used plastic is tightly and cleanly tucked away after use then creating new plastic doesn’t create more plastic, and energy becomes important.
But if we can’t get recycling right, why do you think we would get storage right? In fact, there are plenty of stories that show we don’t get storage right.
Recycling keeps the plastic out of the waste stream which otherwise just ends up in the environment.
And that’s why you didn’t hear about it happening
You underestimate the power of social norms. If you start talking and ignore their social cues, they’re not very likely to kick you out or cut you off.
If only we had a small army of awkward people who really wanted to talk about their specific hobby. But where could we find those?
Then energy consumption is again not the important metric. The amount of existing plastic is.
Networking gives you the former. Showing up has the potential (not guaranteed) for the latter.
Then why reduce plastic use, if not to reduce oil consumption?
It sounds like you’re trying to do forced corporate networking. I.e. create a relationship for the purpose of the relationship.
That doesn’t work.
Find some activity you like to do, or volunteer somewhere. Show up a lot. Those are your friends now. They can introduce you to others.
Recycling is not a red herring. Yes it uses more energy. Energy consumption is not the important metric. It uses fewer fossil fuels.
Not yet it doesn’t.
You can say that when he’s 150 and she’s 120.
No one. Which is why we shouldn’t bother existing Tesla owners.
But they should still put their cars up for sale. Flood the market.
Based on nothing, I too am going to assume they haven’t tried.
I disagree. There’s Microsoft Office, and there’s everything else. Google is in that second bucket.
