I use interrail a lot to travel across Europe. In France the TGV is great; but it is hard to get to places that are not close to TGV, the regional trains are overfilled and feel old-fashioned. I was impressed with the train system in Italy, all the way down to Messina… but on Sicily the trains are slow and far in between; like in France , Italy seems to have decoupled its provinces…Netherlands is surprisingly good for such a densely populated country. I like the German system too, it always gets me where I want to go, in many cases with some delay, but in a system so complex, I have no big issue with it. I only know one country that complains as much about the railway system as Germany: the UK.
Yeah, AfD in Germany is planning similar moves.
For many years, I have been thinking about migrating to some other spot, the south of France, Italy, UK, Spain , but then I discovered that it is much better to be a tourist in exotic places. I’ve met quite a few people who have moved to those places, and oh my god can they complain about their new host country. On top of that, many of them keep the option open to go home, for instance for healthcare reasons, or when they get older, but that is not emigrating; then you live in two countries, and in that case, I would feel very lost and “in between”. If you move to another country , you will need to integrate; get involved in administrative problems and political issues, -and you must learn the local language really well, speaking just a few words doesn’t mean that you have truly arrived. So, the novelty and exotic experience wears off quite quickly. So I’m staying put, I just make sure my EV is charged, the railway station is close by, I have cash in the bank,and my passport is up-to-date.

Atheist here. These religious sects are like chilli in the soup, I’m intrigued by them no end, can read about them for hours. Sometimes they even start doing weird, unethical or illegal stuff, wow human’s phantasy is truly bigger than the universe. In France we have mostly Jehovas, they just stand around like ghouls, saying nothing. But since they had some scandals (involving children) they have increased their presence. In Belgium and London I’ve met Orthodox Jews, that’s heavy soup too, almost too spicy. I always pity the children, because escape from a sect is hard.

That’s naive. Putin is building an army with 1.5 million soldiers, he’s in panic mode and highly unpredictable. The only thing that will stop Russia is strength.
Actually, I am employed at the US standards office in Washington DC, AND this was indeed discussed! But we figured out (based on the last census results) that only few fellow citizens understand the concept of “liters” - in fact only scientists seem to be able to handle this unit, and they are being fired right, left and center (government strategy). I would still vote for Trump though, in an upcoming election.

Actually, I am from Poland, and I striongly oppose this idea. The defense of great polish nation is serious business, and Putin very dangerous dictator. Sure, Any military base in Poland should be named after USA dignitary, such as Jackson, Coolidge or Roseveldt. But Trümp means in polish “flaccid” or “limp” !!! And in England it means “flatulence”. That bad signal towards “madvlad” !!! Perhaps we call the new base “the Donald barracks” or “base orange” - or “Łyżka spermy”-camp, as we kindly call the great 49th president here in Warsaw!
