How dare you! Actually, not terrible ideas, but I would pin it to an age, not whether you have retired or not. Maybe 70 currently? As we live longer and people are healthier longer it may need to go up. Something to think about: the wealthier you are the less this affects you. You could pay to have someone else drive you anywhere at anytime, and, although it’s probably not legal, if you were rich and could afford it, you could probably find at least one person who would change their vote for you for some $$.
It sounds like you are making the argument that sexuality is nuture, not nature…I am not sure how I feel about that. I suppose it must be both to some and that there would definitely be significantly more gay, lesbian, bi, etc. folks if society didn’t socialize us to be hetero by default.
I agree. If you have not opted out for whatever reason, you get harvested. In a similar vein, euthanasia and assisted suicide should be legal for those with terminal illness or over a certain age.

Personally I am for staying on Daylight savings time permanently, rather than getting rid of it. But getting permanently off of it is preferably to the back and forth every year.

So, of the (apparently) 7.4% who do want unification (either right away or after waiting some unspecified period), what percentage of that 7.4% mean unification under PRC and how many unification under ROC rule?
The graph also shows that (since 1994) those two groups that want unification (whether now or later) have fallen from 20% to the current 7.4%.
The number who want independence at some later date has almost tripled since 1994 (8.0% ti 21.9%), whereas the number who want independence immediately or a.s.a.p. is very small and has barely changed (3.1% to 4.4%).
It suggests to me that whatever else most Taiwanese want they do not want conflict or violence with mainland China.
It certainly doesn’t suggest that any significant percentage of Taiwanese want reunification with the PRC today. Anybody have any insights into the nitty gritty details of the 30 years of polling or whether or not we should be suspicious of the Election Study Center at NCCU?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What's the longest time you've gone without food and/or water and how was it?
2·7 days agoI do at least one 30-day juice fast and one 10-day water fast each year. As well as 3-5 day fasts every month I am not doing those. I think I may have gone a day or two without water before, but I don’t recall ever doing it intentionally.

Fediverse@lemmy.world•How should Lemmy & Piefed handle voting activity from banned/deleted accounts?English
2·7 days agoI miss slashdot. My opinion is that if somebody was banned because of vote related chicanery, then their votes should disappear with them. If it didn’t have anything to do with votes, the votes should stay. Not sure if that’s feasible.

1·9 days agoI always thought “jury-rig” was a nautical term that fell out of use centuries ago and has only reappeared because some people who heard the phrase “jerry-rigged” and were not familiar with the word “jerry” thought they must have said “jury”. Meh, wouldn’t be the first time I didn’t know what I was talking about.
