My adhd means I end up collecting ideas for games and books, but I can never manage to have the motivation for long enough to make them real.
I’m also considering making a community for this sort of thing, just not sure how used it will be

For the same adhd reasons I’ve tried to learn programming languages about 8 times a year since 2011 and can’t make it stick.
Ive got this idea for a pocket pet game that’s sort of a love letter to all those toys from the late 90s that never really hit their full potential. It uses qr and barcode scanning to generate loot, your pet can change species and color with your effort so you never have to replace them and you can customize them to your identity, it uses real world travel to generate battles, and you can battle other players locally.
The code scans would be used as a seed for a random table and then be account locked so every time you scan that can of soup you get the same item reliably every 24hrs. With the idea that dedicated players would collect the codes that they’d want to repeatedly use. Then when you meet other players you can scan each other’s collection to get a quick boost of loot, facilitating a reason for the player base to socialize.
I have dreams of making it FOSS, supporting its expenses with monotized cosmetics for sprites and UI with an open invitation for players to make their own cosmetics that they’d receive a 50% cut of the profits. If it ever got big I’d get modified versions of those dog tag engravers you see at tourist traps that would print out a token featuring your pet, your account name, and a one of a kind qr code on the back that gives a slightly better reward. I’d put these machines in silly places so the players would have a neat experience visiting them and a one of a kind physical reminder of the fun to show off to their friends.
I have the whole game complete on paper but I don’t know how to make it work digitally so I doubt it will ever happen.
