As someone who loves OChem and Molecular/Cellular Bio, this is right up my alley! But without knowing the specific substance being taken along with the alcohol, this can only be discussed in general terms. Alcohol, particularly ethanol, is known to have unique properties that can influence the permeability of biological membranes. When a polar substance is combined with a small amount of alcohol, it tends to enhance the solubility of that substance, potentially facilitating its absorption. Ethanol can also disrupt the lipid bilayer of cell membranes, which may allow for better penetration of polar molecules. Additionally, the absorption is typically better when these substances are submerged in a liquid rather than being dry, as hydration and solubility play crucial roles in sublingual absorption. Yet, it’s important to approach this with cautiously considering the potential impact of alcohol on the mucous membranes and overall health, especially over time.

Careful with that one buster, benzos and booze are a fast track to a forever snooze.

Edit: ok my bad, zopiclone is a nonbenzo after I double checked but don’t mess too hard with GABA receptor stuff, those cheeky cunts have a way of messing back with ye.

Alcohol and benzos both make GABA in your brain more active. GABA is the main inhibitory neurotransmitter in your brain. That means it “turns off” neurons. That’s a bad thing if someone is randomly accelerating its effect and interfering with the neurons that keep you breathing. It’s really hard to dose drugs that have the same target. A lot of people die from mixing alcohol and benzos. Those warnings on the bottle are written in blood. Please don’t mix them, be safe.
