Gotcha. That sounds like a good solution.
Gotcha. That sounds like a good solution.
I’ve never moved, but I assume you just create a new account and start over. Or is there more you can do?
The difference is the way it is run. You got it. And if one day Midwest.social starts doing things you hate and treating it’s users like crap, then come on over to lemmy.world or lemmy.ca, or one if the other thousands instances.
People hosting the database are not the owners of the platform unlike Reddit. They get to tell us how we can use it just because they host the database.
I was excited to see what it could do on my iPhones but so far I have not liked anything. The notification summaries are useless, for instance.
I do wonder if AI is being used in the background in ways I don’t see, but I doubt it.
So it sounds like they are codependent at this point. The bigger the nasa budget the better for space X.
Can Space X make the payloads?
They both shoot rockets up in the sky. Our government could pay NASA to do it, or pay Space X.
It’s happening. I mentioned in another thread that there’s a good severance community that helps me feel like I don’t need Reddit for a show for the first time.
Well, those things you love about Reddit have only been getting better on Lemmy as time goes on.
I think major Reddit news is absolutely relevant to the Lemmy community. If nothing else, it is a good reminder of what we want from our communities and why we are here and not there. In addition, it may lead to a surge in active users.
The Reddit ecosystem relies on engaged users to downvote bad content and report potentially violative content.
I love how they refer to their corporate profit method as the “Reddit Ecosystem”
They make it sound like this is the universally owned and managed ecosystem that we all are responsible for maintaining and we all equally benefit from. The corporate overlords decide what they want the ecosystems to be, the rules, the content, the algorithm… All to benefit their stock prices and bonuses.
But all of a sudden it’s the community’s responsibility for maintaining THEIR rules for THEIR profit? How about fuck you Reddit.
I know this doesn’t affect me as I am plenty happy being on Lemmy, but the audacity still pisses me off.
There’s an exponential amount of time between each panel. 1 hour, 5 hours, 2 days for the answer.
I’ve definitely come to understand there’s a lot of brands of anarchism. I don’t think my initial opinion about anarchism has changed much, though, but I understand there is much more nuance to it.
This sounds interesting, and not at all what I would have thought of as anarchy. It definitely requires solidarity among its people.
Another thing is google results. When I want a recommendation for anything I will add “Reddit” to my query. This is because I know it will return great recommendations and conversations that help me decide. Hopefully I will eventually be able to just use Lemmy for this.
Come join the music/dance experience!
Also, more active users means more niche communities. I just realized there’s a Severance community that is medium active. One less thing I need Reddit for.
Trump and Elon took office. Now all I see is Trump posts.
I gotcha. It just feels to me like there are so many opportunities for the capitalists to abuse this system for their own profit and power. People are easily manipulated, even when they think what they’re doing is for the good of the community.
Maybe the factory doesn’t sell, but it could still very much feed the capitalists through manipulation of the members of the council. My cynical view: It may not be immediate, but it will be inevitable.
Imagine when AI is automating the whole process. Including the phone call.
