Windows is afraid of me
Linux users aren’t “afraid” of Winslop. They simply avoid the shite.
In fact Linux users are the last people to be afraid of Windows.
Yeah. You show me a Linux user, I’ll show you someone who has worked in tech support with primarily windows machines.
Linux is good enough now that even a tech illiterate dipshit like me can use it without issue. I use mint, btw
I’ve been using Linux exclusively for about 6 years now (god…) and I’m terrified whenever I have to tinker with a windows machine at work. everything is so incredibly obtuse and arcane and ive forgotten all about it by now
I find it utterly confusing.
I had to troubleshoot a family member’s computer, and the amount of redundant but separate systems floating around in it is insane. A Onedrive integrated into the OS, a separate Onedrive for syncing specific folders, yet another OneDrive to access work resources. 365 for office, 365 for OneDrive, 365 for Teams. Don’t even get me started on Copilots being tossed around everywhere.
Half of these systems are auto-logged in during startup, the other prompting they need logins, and most of which flag for space issues and subscription notices.
I definitely know a person or two who use Linux because they are afraid of Windows. But I know more people who are afraid of Windows, yet use Windows anyways.
Linux people feel dirty when they use windows…avoiding windows conserves water since they have to take less showers
Linux users saying they are washing less to preserve water sounds like greenwashing lazy behaviour 😄
I always thought it had something to do with AI datacenters. You learn every day.
Afraid? Philosophically diametrically opposed is more accurate.
I’d add Eric Clapton’s kids to that short list
I’m not sure I want to know the context of that.
Well, not anymore.
winphobic
Context?
Firstly, there’s the incorrect assumption that Linux users don’t use Microsoft’s Windows operating system because they’re afraid of it. This may or may not have something to do with the fact that “phobia” has two meanings in modern parlance, one which means fear and the other that extends to mean hatred.
But you probably know all that.
The other part is that it’s surprisingly common for detractors of the Russian state to “accidentally” fall out of a window. This then appears in the news. We know it wasn’t an accident. The Russian state knows it wasn’t an accident. We know they know and they know we know, but there’s no proof and no investigation, so it was an accident. Got it? Good.
And so detractors of the Russian state are also afraid of windows.
Personally, I think Putin should spend a lot more time near them.
I don’t think anyone actually thinks Linux users fear Windows, but it’s required for the joke.
No it’s not. They could have said “avoiding windows”.
Absolutely. Thank you for sharing this.

Especially in 2022-2025 death by falling seed to be trending.
That being said: I am fleeing big tech social media for some non-dividing ‘old internet’ distraction on the Fediverse. Please help us enjoy our time here by not bringing the geopolitical reality to every sub. OS and browser wars allowed of course.
Vivaldi best browser and I’ll die on that hill
(I know it’s Chromium based and only semi open but damnit the UI/UX just work for me)
Russians who oppose Putin tend to either get poisoned or fall off of buildings.
with the official narrative being they accidentally fell out of a window.
