I’ve no real familiarity with taxonomy and am still unclear on whether this animal I recently spotted was a fox or coyote.
(I know the photo isn’t good, it was taken at a distance while they were moving around, but I recommend you try not to miss the cub in the background!)
I like the consistency of the stances used for the reference images. Helps provide useful contrast.
What really struck me was the reddish nose markings too. OP’s image looked like a coyote to me.
