You know, you can deconstruct the shipwreck and gain resources from it…
Remember the map is infinite. There’s always oil just maybe not as close as you like but usually trains help with getting things transported long distance like that.
The map is not actually infinite, it’s just REALLY REALLY big https://youtu.be/HzpUQZIr15g?is=gp-u0uk9d7gmYlc5
Yes I know but functionally on a playthrough it’s nearly impossible to get to the edge unless you dedicate to get there specifically. And want to waste so much fucking time to do it.
No oil at all? Unless you changed the settings there should be some. Usually have to build a car and do some scouting to find it.
Everytime I play factorio I get overwhelmed by planning of the factory. Every production line a build I think “but will I be able to expand this? am I blocking myself in? is this efficient?”. I let the perfect stand in the way of the good and it drains the fun out of it massively. Does anyone else have this problem, and how do you overcome it?
Embrace the spaghetti! I’ve had multiple times where I blocked myself in. I Had to process locally and train back the specific good I needed. Efficient? Expandable? Who cares. I had fun and still launched rockets.
I think you just get over that with experience and intentionally expandable designs. The main bus is a simple example for how to build an expandable factory, although it has its own problems.
I see some biters nibbling on your mines
