The leaders of Germany’s 16 federal states have called on the European Union to review a ban on the sale of new combustion engines from 2035.

A rigid ban on combustion engine technology from 2035 onwards, without consideration of its actual feasibility, would not only jeopardize core industrial competencies and the competitiveness of Germany … but also the social acceptance of electric mobility," the state leaders said in a statement published following a meeting.

Wrong decision. But anyway; as the costs of climate change will start hitting them, in 3-5 years they will come to their senses and will then review this review.

No, in 3-5 years the German combustion engine sector is basically dead. H1 this year 30% of cars produced in Germany were BEVs and growing quickly. A lot of the suppliers fire people and close down factories related to combustion engines right now. That is a huge reason, why the German economy is in such a bad state. However it has to be done and there is an end to it.

There is no ban. Why does the press always reinforce those fake news?

France and Spain are against it and they have 26.1% of EU population. So they only need another 8.9% of the population to support them. So idk Portugal, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Ireland or something like that. They also need to vote for it, so abstaining is also a no.

It’s like they’re trying to stand on the wrong side of history. I guess there’s the vote against Chat Control, for which they considered voting in favor of. There’s also the support for Ukraine, which they have been doing half-assed.
