There has probably always been business jargon, because every specialized field develops its own jargon.
For example, “benchmark” is used in various fields in a loose sense of a point of reference that you use to judge other things. But, it originally comes from surveying where it was a mark cut into stone to secure a “bench”, a kind of bracket used for mounting the levelling staff.
There’s also probably a lot of business jargon from the “Scientific Management” process created by Frederick Winslow Taylor. He was extremely influential in the business community, and no doubt coined lots of terms that are still in use today.
