    1. Sitting weird is good so long as you keep altering your position. It’s sitting still in the same position for a long time that is the worst. I can’t sit still either way, thanks ADHD :)
    2. Squats and deadlifts, other back exercises and running can compensate for hours of sitting (at least in terms of back issues). The technique has to be right though or it can make things worse.

I once had someone at a party tell me “I can tell you’re in IT because of how you sit.” I didn’t think I was sitting weird.

I sit like the second picture to keep my back from hurting. Remember kids, just because you CAN lift that person that weighs more than you you SHOULDN’T lift that person

I used to sit weirdly too but it was never a problem. I would guess the main problem for people with pain is lack of any exercise. It seems some people don’t even walk anymore, they use those electric boards to move. No surprise their body becomes crap.

I started trying to run now actually. I hate cardio but it looks so good when people can run and it looks effortless. So I have set a 2 month plan for myself now to get on running machine every second day and do 20 minutes of mixed uphill walking and running.

Chat gpt says I will see results in 2 months, so im hoping for it. :) My goal is to be able to run 20 minutes with no walking.

I admittedly dont run very often or very well, but I just did a 5k that I only kind of prepped for, I managed to get to a consistent 7 min/km in about a week and a half of consistent attempts, granted I was walking part of that way, but when the 5k rolled around on Saturday, I did manage to do the first like 1.5 km with no walking. Obviously this isn’t for everyone, but I found for me that I hate treadmills and I hate just running with no direction (even though I will wander aimlessly for hours when I’m walking) so having a set 1km lap that I could use as a baseline was really beneficial to running, and on the day of the 5k having a massive group was quite motivating to try and keep running rather than walk, regardless of how fast or slow.

Cool :) Yeah I know that feeling of accomplishment, it’s so nice to feel progress like that. I need some goals to accomplish or I’m just not happy. :)

tbf, almost every single chair out there is wildly un-ergonomic. Whoever came up with all that 90 degree “perfect posture” bullshit must be exhumed, revived and then executed again. Just get yourself a laptop and work from bed if you can, otherwise, get a recliner that can go back at least 45°, find your comfortable angle, then plan the rest of the setup around that.

Heart burn is a digestion tract issue, lying down only exacerbates the symptoms.

Even if that was the case, just lying like 10-20 degree off completely flat completely negates the issue.

Even partially reclining can cause or exacerbate acid reflux.

The best thing to do is to gently walk after meals.

My back has rarely hurt through my life. Only recently after working as a kitchen aid in my second job have I started feeling any at all.

Now my knees are a different story. I’ve had bad knees since I was 12.

I worked in a kitchen with a subtly sloped floor, so water goes towards the drains. I’m convinced that messed me up

        Physically and possibly also mentally.

I’m basing this on nearly nothing, but I honestly think hanging around on slopes for too long without skiing, snowboarding, or cycling messes with your mind…
