Wikipedia says it’s some athletic conference of private unis in USA. Apparently the unis in the league are really important; it’s like having a term to refer to people who graduated in ENS-PSL, or the Polytechnique, or Paris-Saclay. (From your profile you’re from France, right? I’m kind of adapting the situation.)
