I wish I got this at first instead of the 1996 remastered edition (different track list as well).
I didn’t realize that “Out of stock” on Amazon may not be 100% true, and there it was, the original 1984 release in Used category.
The 12" version of Smalltown Boy alone is better than the extra tracks in 1996 edition.
Plus it’s not a remaster, which I like even if it doesn’t sound all that much different, just because it’s original. Same reason I prefer I’m a believer by The Monkees over the more popular Smash Mouth cover.

I wonder how much difference there is between early and modern pressed CDs. They used to be shiny with solid-color prints, now it’s almost always CMYK raster. Tighter manufacturing tolerances allowed for consistent 80-minute disks. This one says AAD, now nobody cares. The newest ones will probably delaminate before some 90s ones. And CD-R has been viable for small runs for a while. The oldest CD in my house is likely a 1990 Czech carol collection from GZ Loděnice, and it has track names included, which many modern disks lack.

I remember having some CD that just… flaked of. Like all of that foil when I picked it up just fell off in pieces when touched, just running my finger over it.
The spindle part is quite different.
It’s fully silver, and misses the ridge around spindle.
