x.x
sorry for not posting recently had a depressive episode and took 100mg of melatonin to stop myself from crying all night
Wabi-sabi.
The appreciation of the look of wear and use, among other things.
I don’t get why flagship phones are so easily damaged, but cheap ones aren’t.
Because if you can spend $1000 on a phone, you may as well do it quite often. And if you take something for $200…well, either you aren’t ready to change phones every year, or even if you are, you won’t bring much buck.
What does it make me if I’m spending 50 or so quid a month on a contract, over two years?
Yes, there is some financial illiteracy here.
My last several phones have been Pixels, and I do not use a case… These things are actually surprisingly durable in my experience.
It just hasn’t been my experience that they’re in any way fragile or easily damaged
You can crack an iPhone if you think about dropping it.
I had an iphone 4 that the back glass shattered when dropping it with a case on, but I’ve used my iphone 12 for the last 6 years with no case and have dropped it plenty of times with no cracking at all.
Either you’re lucky or I’m unlucky.
Soft plastic is more compliant, while glass is brittle
I was more wondering why we can’t go back to those days.
A glass and metal sandwich looks and feels nicer, and I think plastic kinda has the stigma from being the choice for cheap bad quality items.
It’s what people want.
Isn’t the oxide layer made during anodizing significantly harder than raw aluminum? Anyways maybe it would be cool if we got thick magnesium devices like they’re old shop tools.
🫂
I dream of an era where you get a used cellphone for your eighteenth birthday and you keep it for the rest of your life; you just keep repairing it.
I own both of these products. They don’t look like this.
You own an unanodized prototype mac?
Thin and light should be the niche product. I want something that’ll last please.
Old thinkpad with linux+ unisocks and you’ll be golden.
They aren’t mutually exclusive, macbooks are thin, light and last. Pricy as fuck though :/
Mmmm yes. Yes this exactly. Much of my tech is returning to this. I stopped buying new a few years ago and have been really trying to get some more lifespan out of things. Letting them get a bit beat up. I’ve got a flashlight that looks so cool now all the corners are starting to ding and the silver is showing through the black. Having something long enough to experience its natural weathering is so nice. Feels more like a part of me as I too naturally weather.
Same TBH. I like my belongings to look like they belong in Fallout 3 Megaton
Oh dear god no, next they’ll be selling relliqued laptops like they do with guitars.
Hope you feel at least a bit better soon
Another unrealistic beauty standard
I always ask “who am I keeping it nice for?”
Or at least that’s what I was telling myself after 2 days of pinstriping my rig, following the Ozark Trail.Jeez, 100mg would definitely do something. Did it actually get you to sleep? I remember taking absurdly high doses at my lower points but it sorta just put me in a weird dreamy disassociation state
I don’t advise 100mg of aluminum
Maybe it’s not that bad
Aluminium hydroxide is a common ingredient in over-the-counter antacids, with some products containing up to 500 mg of aluminium per dose. Chronic use can significantly increase systemic aluminium levels.
I didn’t fact check it, though.
Edit: I think I found a better source, and a better quote
Antacids have 300–600 mg aluminum hydroxide (approximately 104–208 mg of aluminum) per tablet, capsule, or 5 milliliter (mL) liquid dose. Little of this form of aluminum is taken up into the bloodstream.
Oral exposure to aluminum is usually not harmful. Some studies show that people exposed to high levels of aluminum may develop Alzheimer’s disease, but other studies have not found this to be true. We do not know for certain that aluminum causes Alzheimer’s disease.
Some people who have kidney disease store a lot of aluminum in their bodies. The kidney disease causes less aluminum to be removed from the body in the urine. Sometimes, these people developed bone or brain diseases that doctors think were caused by the excess aluminum.
Although aluminum-containing over the counter oral products are considered safe in healthy individuals at recommended doses, some adverse effects have been observed following long-term use in some individuals.

That’s VERY light for a phone, though 🤷🏻
yeah it did. I’m looking to get some clonazepam which they gave me for episodes after a trip to the psych ward about 6 months ago, but it wasn’t a refillable prescription and i ran out.
Be a little careful with melatonin okay? It can do some wack shit if you’re on an SSRI. Really hope you feel better soon
